Breast Lift in Serbia — Mastopexy Guide 2026

A breast lift (mastopexy) raises and reshapes the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening tissue, repositioning the nipple-areolar complex to a higher, more youthful position. It does not inherently increase volume — if your main concern is size, implants or fat transfer may need to be part of the plan; if your main concern is sagging with adequate volume, a lift alone may be all you need.

This guide covers what a breast lift can and cannot do, the incision types available in Belgrade, who is a good candidate, safety and risks, the step-by-step process and recovery. For Belgrade pricing by technique, see our Breast Lift Cost Belgrade page.

Why Do Patients Choose Serbia for Breast Lift?

Experienced surgeons, modern facilities and genuine savings — without compromising on technique or safety.

  • Price — breast lift from approximately €3,000; typically 40–55% less than UK, Irish and Scandinavian pricing for equivalent procedures.
  • Procedure range — periareolar, vertical (lollipop), anchor and augmentation-mastopexy (lift + implants) all available at partner clinics.
  • Surgeons — board-certified plastic surgeons with high breast-surgery volume; licensing verified through the Lekarska komora Srbije (Serbian Medical Chamber) registry.
  • Facilities — Ministry of Health-licensed private clinics and hospitals with overnight monitoring capability.
  • Getting there — direct flights from London (2h 45m), Stockholm (2h 30m), Berlin (1h 50m) and Munich (1h 25m).
🔔 A breast lift reshapes and raises the breast but does not add volume. If you want to be fuller as well as lifted, ask about a lift combined with implants — the section below explains how the options differ.

Incision Types Available in Belgrade

Your incision pattern is chosen mainly by your degree of sagging, areola position and size, and skin quality. More lift power generally means more scar — but often a more durable shape.

1
Periareolar lift (“donut”)
The scar sits around the areola only, used for mild ptosis where the nipple is close to the correct position. It produces minimal visible scarring and can reduce areola diameter at the same time, but has limited lifting power and is not suitable for moderate or severe sagging. The scar can widen over time in some patients — ask how this is managed.
2
Vertical lift (“lollipop”)
A scar around the areola plus a vertical scar down to the breast crease — the most commonly performed breast lift technique worldwide and the most common choice at Belgrade clinics. It gives a good balance of lift power and scar burden for moderate ptosis and creates a well-projected shape; the vertical scar typically fades to a thin line within 12–18 months.
3
Anchor lift (inverted-T)
Adds a horizontal scar in the breast crease to the periareolar and vertical scars, used for more severe ptosis or when combined with reduction. It offers the most lifting power for significant sagging and large skin excess — often for post-pregnancy or post-weight-loss cases — with more scarring than a lollipop but frequently a more durable shape. The horizontal crease scar is typically well hidden.
4
Crescent lift (limited cases)
A small crescent-shaped incision above the areola, suitable only for very minimal asymmetry or sagging. It leaves minimal scarring but offers minimal lifting power, and is often combined with augmentation rather than performed alone. Most patients are not candidates for this technique.
5
Augmentation-mastopexy (lift + implants)
Combines a breast lift with implant placement in a single procedure, for patients who have both sagging and volume loss. It addresses position and volume in one operation but is more technically demanding than either procedure alone, and published literature documents higher complication and revision rates than a lift alone. Some surgeons prefer to stage the procedures (lift first, implants later) to reduce risk — patient selection and surgeon experience matter significantly.
💡 The right incision type is determined by your anatomy — degree of ptosis, nipple position, skin quality and whether you want volume added. Your surgeon will assess this at the pre-operative consultation, ideally after reviewing photos sent in advance.

What Result Should I Expect?

A breast lift produces a noticeable change in shape and position — and reading before-and-after photos correctly, while understanding what your own anatomy allows, is the key to realistic expectations.

  • How to read a before & after gallery — compare photos taken from the same angle and in the same lighting, standing relaxed. Genuine “after” photos should be at least 3–6 months post-op, once the breasts have settled into their final position and scars have begun to fade. Early photos look high and swollen, which is normal.
  • Scars depend on the incision — judge their position, not their absence — every breast lift leaves a scar. Periareolar produces the least, anchor the most. A good result is a lifted, well-projected shape with scars that fade to thin pale lines over 12–18 months; widened or hypertrophic scarring can occur unpredictably.
  • A lift resets the clock — it does not stop it — results are long-lasting but not permanent. Gravity, ageing, weight change and pregnancy or breastfeeding gradually affect the result over the years, so a stable weight and completing childbearing first help the lift last.

See real examples in our before & after gallery below, and bring photos that reflect your goals to your consultation so the surgeon can tell you honestly what is achievable for your anatomy.

Breast Lift in Serbia — Step by Step

From your first enquiry to surgery, recovery and follow-up — the process is organised step by step. We coordinate flights, accommodation and transfers for patients travelling from abroad.

1

Send Photos & Goals

Send 3–4 clear photos of your breasts — front, both sides and a 45° angle, taken without a bra in natural light. Note whether you are considering a lift alone or a lift combined with implants for added volume. We usually reply within 24 hours.

✈️ Travelling from abroad? Include your approximate travel dates when you send photos — this helps us align the surgical plan with your schedule.
2

Surgeon Review & Written Quote

Your surgeon evaluates breast position and degree of sagging (ptosis), recommends the most suitable technique (periareolar, vertical/lollipop or anchor), and advises whether implants may be beneficial. You then receive a detailed written quote and can ask follow-up questions before deciding.

3

Book & Prepare

Lock your surgery date 3–6 weeks in advance; some clinics ask for a deposit to secure the date. You receive pre-operative instructions and guidance for your stay. If you have recently been breastfeeding, surgeons typically recommend waiting several months before surgery.

✈️ Travelling from abroad? We can recommend accommodation near your clinic and arrange airport transfer if needed.
4

Arrival in Belgrade

After arrival you attend your in-person consultation — breast assessment, surgical markings, and pre-operative tests such as blood work and ECG. The final plan is confirmed face to face.

5

Surgery Day

The breast lift is performed under general anaesthesia and typically lasts 2–3 hours, or longer if combined with implants. Most patients stay one night in the clinic. A surgical bra is fitted immediately after surgery.

6

Recovery in Belgrade

Days 2–5: rest, gentle walking and gradual return to light activity. The surgical bra is worn continuously, and it is best to avoid lifting the arms above shoulder height early on. Moderate discomfort is expected and usually well managed with standard pain relief.

✈️ Travelling from abroad? Plan 7–10 days in Belgrade. A follow-up wound check is done around day 5–7, and the surgeon clears you to fly once healing is confirmed.
7

Check-up & Fly Home

Days 5–7: follow-up examination and wound check, followed by surgeon clearance to travel. You receive aftercare instructions, including guidance on wearing the surgical bra and scar care.

8

Online Follow-up

After you return home, recovery continues with photo check-ins and direct communication if needed. Breast shape gradually settles over 3–6 months, while scar maturation and fading can continue for up to 12–18 months.

Am I a Good Candidate?

A breast lift is suitable for women whose main concern is sagging rather than size.

Good candidates:

  • Nipple position at or below the breast crease (ptosis)
  • Dissatisfaction with breast shape after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or ageing
  • Areola stretched or enlarged
  • Stable weight — weight changes directly affect results
  • Non-smoker, or willing to stop at least 4–6 weeks before and after surgery
  • Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

Consider alternatives if: your main concern is volume (augmentation may be enough without a lift), your breasts are heavy and causing discomfort (a reduction with lift may be more appropriate), or you plan pregnancy in the near future (results may be compromised). A good surgeon will tell you honestly which option fits your goal.

💡 Sagging + volume loss? If you want to be both lifted and fuller, augmentation-mastopexy (lift + implants) may be recommended. Your surgeon will assess at consultation whether to combine or stage the procedures.

Indicative Cost

A breast lift in Belgrade starts from approximately €3,000 for a periareolar lift, with vertical (lollipop) from €4,000, anchor from €5,000, and augmentation-mastopexy from €4,500–€6,500. The final price depends on the incision type, whether implants are included and package inclusions. For detailed pricing by technique and what’s included → Breast Lift Cost Belgrade — Clinic Prices.

How Long Do You Stay in Belgrade?

Plan for 7–10 nights in Belgrade.

Day 0

Arrival · Pre-operative consultation — ptosis assessment, incision-type decision, implant discussion if needed, written quote and informed consent.

Day 1

Pre-operative blood tests · Surgery (2–3 hours depending on scope) · One overnight stay in the clinic.

Days 2–4

Swelling and soreness. Surgical bra worn continuously. Gentle walking encouraged from day 1.

Days 5–7

Follow-up wound check. Significant improvement in comfort. Surgeon clearance for travel.

Days 7–10

Return home. Continue the surgical bra. Scar care begins.

When you can fly depends on healing — your surgeon gives the final clearance.

Days 5–7

Follow-up wound check and surgeon clearance; comfort and mobility improve.

Day 7

Short-haul flights are usually possible with surgeon clearance and movement during the flight.

Days 7–10

Long-haul travel typically cleared once you are fit to fly. Wear your surgical bra, stay hydrated and walk regularly during the flight.

Recovery — What to Expect

Breast lift recovery is manageable. The main requirements are wearing the compression bra, scar care, and avoiding upper-body strain. Breast shape settles into its final position over 3–6 months.

Days 1–3

Most discomfort. Swelling, soreness and tightness across the chest, managed with standard medication. Breasts look high and swollen — this is normal.

Days 5–7

Significant improvement. Most patients comfortable with gentle activity. Compression bra worn full-time.

Weeks 2–3

Desk work resumable for most patients. No lifting the arms above shoulder height. Lower-body cardio (walking, cycling) is fine with surgeon clearance.

Weeks 4–6

Compression-bra period ends. Light upper-body exercise with surgeon clearance. No underwire bra for at least 6 weeks. Scar care (silicone strips or gel) continues.

Months 3–6

Breast shape settles into its final position. Scars mature and fade. Full exercise with surgeon clearance.

Months 6–12

Scars continue to fade, typically becoming thin pale lines within 12–18 months with diligent scar care.

Safety & Risks

A breast lift is a well-established procedure with high patient satisfaction. Understanding the risks before surgery is part of informed consent.

  • Scarring — inherent to any breast lift; the extent depends on the incision type (periareolar least, anchor most). Scars typically fade to thin pale lines over 12–18 months, but hypertrophic or widened scarring can occur unpredictably.
  • Nipple sensation changes — common; most are temporary and improve over weeks to months, though rarely they can be permanent. If you plan to breastfeed in future, discuss incision choice explicitly — most techniques preserve the milk ducts, but confirm this.
  • Wound-healing issues — delayed healing, minor wound separation and skin necrosis are more common in smokers and patients with diabetes. Stopping smoking at least 4–6 weeks before surgery significantly reduces this risk.
  • Asymmetry — perfect symmetry is not achievable in any breast surgery. Minor asymmetry is normal and expected; significant asymmetry may require revision.
  • Recurrent ptosis — breasts continue to age after a lift. Gravity, weight change and ageing gradually affect the result over years; a lift resets the clock rather than stopping it.
  • Augmentation-mastopexy — combining a lift with implants in one procedure is more technically demanding, with higher reported complication and revision rates than either alone. Some surgeons prefer a staged approach to reduce risk.

In Serbia, a breast lift is performed by surgeons who have completed a specialisation in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, in facilities that must meet Ministry of Health conditions for surgical activity. Written informed consent — covering the planned technique, expected outcomes, risks and the anaesthesia plan — is required by law before surgery, and reputable clinics use the internationally validated WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.

🛡 Accreditation through the Agencija za akreditaciju zdravstvenih ustanova Srbije is an additional quality signal where held. Our partner clinics use board-certified plastic surgeons and licensed facilities with overnight monitoring — and we are happy to confirm the details for any clinic you are considering.

FAQ — Breast Lift in Serbia

Which lift type do I need (periareolar vs lollipop vs anchor)?
It depends mainly on your degree of sagging. Periareolar suits mild ptosis where the nipple is near the right position; vertical/lollipop suits moderate ptosis and is the most common choice; anchor (inverted-T) handles severe sagging or large skin excess. More lift power means more scar but often a more durable shape. Your surgeon decides from your anatomy and photos.
Can a breast lift be done without implants?
Yes. If your concern is sagging with adequate volume, a lift alone reshapes and raises the breast without adding size. Implants are only needed if you also want more volume or fullness in the upper breast — in which case a lift combined with implants (augmentation-mastopexy) may be recommended.
    Will my areola size change?
Often, yes. Most lift techniques pass around the areola, which lets the surgeon reduce an enlarged or stretched areola at the same time and reposition it higher. If areola size is one of your concerns, mention it when you send photos so it can be planned.
Can mastopexy affect breastfeeding or nipple sensation?
Altered or reduced nipple sensation is common after a breast lift; it is usually temporary and improves over weeks to months, though rarely it can be permanent. Most techniques preserve the milk ducts, but if you plan to breastfeed in future, raise it explicitly so the surgeon can choose the incision accordingly.
    What are the key risks?
The main risks are visible scarring (extent depends on incision type), temporary or rarely permanent nipple-sensation changes, wound-healing issues (higher in smokers and diabetics), some degree of asymmetry, and gradual recurrent sagging over the years. Combining a lift with implants carries higher complication and revision rates than a lift alone.
What qualifications do the surgeons have?
A breast lift at our partner clinics is performed by board-certified plastic surgeons with high breast-surgery volume, in facilities licensed by the Ministry of Health with overnight monitoring. Written informed consent is required by law before surgery. We are happy to confirm the surgeon and facility details for any clinic you are considering.
How long do I need to stay in Belgrade?
Plan for 7–10 nights. A follow-up wound check is usually done around day 5–7, after which the surgeon clears you to travel home. A combined lift and implant procedure sits at the longer end of that range.
When can I fly home after a breast lift?
Short-haul flights are usually possible from around day 7 with surgeon clearance, and long-haul travel within roughly 7–10 days once you are confirmed fit to fly. Wear your surgical bra, stay hydrated and move around during the flight. Your surgeon gives the final clearance based on your healing.
What should I look for in before & after photos?
Compare photos taken from the same angle and in the same lighting, with the patient standing relaxed. Genuine after images should be at least 3–6 months post-op, once the breasts have settled and scars have started to fade. Look for a lifted, well-projected shape and well-positioned scars — not the absence of a scar, which is not possible with a lift.
What if I need a revision after returning home?
Because shape settles over 3–6 months and scars mature over 12–18 months, any assessment for a revision is made once healing is complete. Some asymmetry is normal in all breast surgery. Online follow-up continues after you return home, and if a revision is appropriate your coordinator can arrange a review with your surgeon — ask about revision terms in writing before you book.

I travelled from England to have four procedures carried out (lower blepharoplasty, lip lift, brow lift and fat transfer to face). That’s a lot, but I don’t tend to do things by halves! Prior to choosing Aesthetics Serbia I did very extensive research. I am so glad that I chose them. The communication was excellent from day one. Milica was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. Milan was very kind and responsive to all my questions. The main consideration for me was that I would be having the work carried out by a highly skilled surgeon. I chose Dr Goran at Medic Hill. I made the right choice for me. The care I received was first class and the price was very affordable. I’m still healing (5 days after first surgery), but everything is looking good. I would definitely recommend Aesthetics Serbia if you are thinking of travelling for plastic surgery. You will be in kind and caring hands, backed by world-class expertise.

And I'm very happy with my breast augmentation results, Dr. Igor Maljkovic was tentative and professional. I will be back to him again on my next vacation to Belgrade for sure. The first time you see the professionalism of these people, the next time is easier and easier.

I want to shower praise on my patient coordinator with Aesthetic Serbia, who coordinated all my appointments with my surgeon in Belgrade, Serbia. As well, she was there for me to help coordinate the shuttle from the airport and options of available labs near my hotel for the required Covid Antigen test needed to exit the country and just keeping up with me to help along the way with written and voice messages, which were a comfort to me. It certainly made the whole process so much easier for me. Thank you so much!

Indescribably good site! You can get all the necessary information in one place, Milan reacted quickly and immediately informed me what the doctor said. Communication was through the WhatsApp application, as well as through email. The doctor called me directly which was so fine with me. I am very satisfied with this service.
